emissions reduction in manufacturing
Lafarge Canada reduces direct GHG emissions from combustion in our cement manufacturing facilities by upgrading equipment and coprocessing alternative fuels instead of fossil fuels.
optimize cement use in products
In some cases, we can replace cement with supplementary cementitious materials, fly ash, slag and silica fume. These products do not require additional processing, thereby reducing their potential GHG emissions.
limit transportation costs
Not only is our network broad enough to supply building materials to Canada’s remotest locations, we maintain trucks and equipment – as well as upgrade whenever possible – to the most efficient and lowest-impact options.
electricity consumption reduction
All of our cement manufacturing facilities in Canada, plus ready-mix concrete plants, operate with low-energy LED bulbs plus equipment that reduce electricity consumption.
Construction waste and aggregates can be crushed and reused in future projects. We keep it out of the landfill, and reuse it to build sustainable cities and infrastructure.
